An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen Essay -- Enemy People Henrik Ib
An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen An Enemy of the People deals with the extent to which individual desires and beliefs are compromised by society. In particular, the play focuses on the ways in which an individual can be ostracized by the society he is trying to help. One primary message of the play is that the individual, who stands alone, is more often "right" than the mass of people, who are portrayed as ignorant and sheeplike. Isben who turned atheist during his encounter with Georg Brandes, presents many Christian values in ââ¬ËAn enemy of the peopleââ¬â¢, and religious references. Both Dr. Stockmann and Mrs. Stockmann reveal signs of religious references and show Christian values. We learn that Dr. Stockmann has strong moral values when it comes to honesty and truth. From the following we can tell that he believes that the truth should not be hidden from anyone let alone the community, and that the truth shall prevail in the end. ââ¬ËI should think he would be very glad that such an important truth has been brought to lightââ¬â¢. We can also see that the truth is a very important part of Dr. Stockmannââ¬â¢s life, and that the truth is what rightly should be stood up for, as he says, ââ¬ËIn godââ¬â¢s name, what else do you suppose I should do but take my stand on right and truth?ââ¬â¢ and the ââ¬Ëtruth and the people will win the fight you may be certain!ââ¬â¢. Apart from sticking up for the truth he also believes in sticking up for what he believes in which is a strong Christian value. You can almost compare Jesus Christ to Dr. Stockmann as both stands up for what they believe are the truth and what they believe in. Just as Jesus preached to people to back his side, Dr Stockmann does the same. ââ¬ËIf I canââ¬â¢t hire a hall, I shall... ... donââ¬â¢t know; but I donââ¬â¢t like it. We also see many religious expressions made by her, such as ââ¬Ëgood heavensââ¬â¢, or Good lord help usââ¬â¢. She also makes reference to God when speaking to Dr. Stockmann., ââ¬ËI donââ¬â¢t know anything about it but God preserve us. Apart from Mrs. Stockmann and Dr Stockmann showing some religious reference we see Petra reveal that hard work is also presented as a good Christian value. ââ¬ËYes ââ¬â but that is good. One is so delightfully tired after itââ¬â¢. In the end we see similarities in both Jesus and Dr. Stockman that they both struggle to get the truth out to people, and that both are seen as enemies although they are in fact people doing right for others. Dr Stockmann does stand alone in the end but he was the one in the right, and stood up to his believes, and in his mind, ââ¬Ëthe strongest man in the world is he who stands most aloneââ¬â¢.

The chapter 5 discusses the summary of the whole study. Thissection deals with conclusion and recommendation for the proposedsystem. .CHAPTER 1IntroductionA hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has Largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities, including en-suite bathroom s and air conditioning or climate control. The cost and quality of hotels are usually indicative of the range and type of services available. Due to the enormous increase in tourismworldwide during the last decades of the 20th century, standards, especially those of smaller establishments, have improved considerably.Hotels are independently assessed in traditional systems and these rely heavily on the facilities provided. Today, most of the Hotels provide goods and services usingà computer system. It helps to perform task in an easy way with less time consumed. Some companies are become fully automated while others strive for the similar setting. Computer programmers develop things like computer system that the rest of us could use. The computer programmers tell the users what to do. They make programs that users can easily used or understand. The advent of new technology gave rise to easy and hassle free interaction between and among humans. Whether it is in business, science or w hatever task a person takes on the quality and speed of carrying it out are enhanced with automation at the core of this efficient today, many systems have used an automation process like using computer system, due to the efficient and accuracy. ââ¬Å"Hotel Reservation Systemâ⬠is a transaction processing system. In this system there are more advantages rather than a manual Hotel Reservation. Background of the StudyThe proponents want to know the reasons of hotel in using manual reservation. The proponents conduct a study towards the topic because they notice some of the hotel still use manual reservation. The study will emphasize the effects of using manual reservation and how a computerized reservation will be substituted. Therefore, the proponents purported to find out how to increase the number of customer using computerized reservation. Interaction and individual stimulation have always been linked to the technological availability of the time and place. With the transitio n to an information-based society, computers and transactions have evolved from manual transaction. One of the solutions or alternatives to the problems that a hotel is facing, a system was being developed which can edit, delete, filter, monitor and store and secured the records of the customers. Hotel Reservation system is a transaction processing system that solves the problem encountered during the manual Hotel Reservation. The computerized Hotel Reservation System aims to simplify the manual Hotel Reservation fastest and accurate. Database is shared thru LocalArea Network (LAN). The proponents make use of some tools andtechniques to build the project. The system uses Graphical User Interface (GUI) to help the user give instruction to the computer. The system once Implemented ità will solve the most common problems that the Hotel Reservation encounter.Statement of the ProblemBased on the research conducted, the proponents found out the problem of this study is: How will this sys tem help the management and the staff to have anaccurate service at the same time to monitor the records of the customers? General Problem: The main problem of this study is the inaccurate reservation of the customer. Specific problem: 1. Low in security2. Time monitoring 3. Less data integrity 4. Difficulty in searching and retrieving files 5. Possible loss of records and retrieving files 6. Difficulty in finding the availability of roomsObjective of the StudyThis study intends to develop a Hotel Reservation System. General ObjectivesThis study aims to solve the problems encountered and to change the manual reservation.Specific Objectives1. To increase the security between the management and staff. 2. A Knights Tale
a knights tale [pic] ââ¬Å"A knightââ¬â¢s taleâ⬠is a movie that was based in the medieval time. The movie focussed on jousting and gives us an outlook on medieval time. This essay about the movie will explain what is fact or fiction. The topics that will be covered are; songs in the movie, Dancing, jousting, transport and hair style. Hair styles in the movie are like some of them from the medieval times but most of the hairstyles in the movie are modern hairstyles.Such as, people in medieval times use to were these head dresses and they couldnââ¬â¢t dye their hair all these different colours like modern day people can because they didnââ¬â¢t have the materials to dye hair. Music in this film was modern, an example includes the song ââ¬Ëwe will rock youââ¬â¢ by Queen however, in the proper medieval times music was played at dinner time and at parties. They used to play little songs about kings and adventurers.Jousting in the medieval time was pretty dangerous and when you fall off the house the jousterââ¬â¢s would have to sword fight till one of the knights would yield but in the movie the characters just kept jousting until one of them got hit off the horse then the other person won the tournament or every time one of them got hit one of the people put a stick in with a white bit of cotton In this wood thing so u could keep score of how many times they got hit and if they get to 5 the guy that hits the other dude 5 time wins.In the movie a knightââ¬â¢s tale at the start they were on a boat that was connected to a chain an people on the other side of the river were pulling the chain to make the boat come across the water but in medieval time they would have used ores to paddle across the water instead of peasants pulling the boat/ barge and only rich people have horses because they cost a lot. Most people in the medieval times would wear woollen clothing with ndergarments made of linen. Brighter colours better materials and a longer j acket length were usually signs of greater wealth. But in the movie clothing was a bit modern that they made look like it was from back then. In conclusion the movie a knightââ¬â¢s tale was mostly a fairly modern movie with a bit of real things that did happen back in the day like getting hanged and locked up in cages and there was jousting, sword fighting and some other things like that

Moon Conspiracy essays
Moon Conspiracy essays Early in everyones childhood, you become amazed when you hear we went to the Moon. It gives you that magical feeling inside that you love so much. Landing on the Moon is one of Americas greatest accomplishments. It gives us as a country great pride to say the we are the only ones that went to the moon. Do you think our country would be like it is today, if we could not say that we were first to go to the moon? What if I told you that we never went to the moon? The statement, we have not been to the moon, is not only a controversy it is a conspiracy. You will see how the evidence that says we have been to the moon is easily discredited. Could the whole thing have been staged in some remote location in the desert? I truthfully believe that we did not go to the moon. On July 20, 1969, the United States made a breakthrough, they were the first country to land on the moon. In doing so, they set the standard for space exploration. Landing on the moon showed that the United States space program NASA was more advanced than the Russians. The craft that actually landed on the moon was called the Lunar Module. It had one main engine at the bottom of the craft, and little thrusters on the sides to control the direction (Space Travel). While the evidence that NASA shows is very believable, there are many flaws. One flaw has to do with the audio that was recorded. While listening to the astronauts talking during the decent to the surface of the moon, you never hear any noise from the engine. The loudness of the engine would be anywhere from 140 to 150 decibels which is really loud (Conspiracy Theory). How come you do not hear the engine in the background? This makes you want to question genuineness of the landing. One of the astronauts said the surface was covered in a very fine powder. You can see this through the foot prints that were left there. If the foot prints made such a...

Project managment Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 1
Project managment - Assignment Example literature on this subject by David Anderson, Frank Brit and Donavon Favre under the title: The seven principles of Supply Chain Management, the concept gained more publicity and many scholars started producing tonnes of literature in this area. This new found interest in Supply Chain Management has allowed the concept to be extensively studied to the benefit of companies and customers across all industries. Some of the scholars who saw an opportunity after Anderson et al wrote their first piece in 1997 were Bowersox, Closs, & Cooper who in 2007 reviewed the decade old article and were in agreement that supply chains should be customer oriented. This pint of view represented the line of thought held by Anderson et al a decade earlier and opens a door into what the future holds for SCM. If over a decade earlier these scholars had seen the impact of SCM on customers and how the concept affected business, the it is fair to conclude that the article; The seven principles of Supply Chain Management was clearly ahead of itself. To address the unique customer demands within a supply chain, segmentation is necessary so that each cluster with identical characteristics is serviced in a peculiar manner that meets their uniqueness. EBay, one of the leading global online marketplaces, has adopted a unique model in its supply chain where for an extra cost, customers with need to urgent delivery are s upplied within the stipulated time and the purchased products discounted. This is an indicator of how a customised supply chain helps serve global clients to the benefit of all stakeholders. A discussion by Wang, Heng & Chau (2007) stressed on sharing information on demand trends especially for organizations with business relationships so that level of stock among these companies is kept at the bare minimum. This alignment of demand and planning is a useful tool throughout the supply chain because it helps related businesses obtain real time data on regions with deficit further

Sound in A Clockwork Orange Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Sound in A Clockwork Orange - Essay Example This method will illustrate how Kubrick's use of sound builds upon itself in a cumulative manner. The first scene of A Clockwork Orange starts with a move through blank screens painted with the primary colours (red and blue) with the sound of a synthesizer playing Bach. This initial juxtaposition between the most modern of instruments and Baroque music effectively alienates the audience by presenting two things that they are familiar with together. The two jar with one another and yet, as the first shot focuses in close-up on Alex's face, they seem paradoxically suited for one another. The music reflects the violent smirk that is on Alex's face as he stares straight at the camera, and thus the audience, as his opening voice-over is heard. There are thus two elements to the sound at this point: the synthesized Bach music and Alex's introduction to his world. The language that Alex uses includes words that do not ordinarily exist in English, but which will be effectively translated by the audience because of their context. Thus Alex states that he and his "droogs" are "making up our razoodocks" what to do that night. Droog obviously means "friend" and razoodock is probably "mind". The juxtaposition is increased by the fact that they are drinking milk in a decidedly odd milk-bar that sells some rather suspicious-sounding milk. The shot draws back from a close-up to a medium shot to a long shot of the whole bar, with the nude female mannequins that act as chairs. The film that started with music has now introduced the audience to a strange, surreal, threatening world: and it was the first blast of synthesized Bach that led the audience to the door. In the next scene a close-up of a hand holding a whisky bottle with another empty bottle besides it is essentially serenaded by a drunken voice singing an old Irish song. It is as if the bottle were singing, but as the shot steadily draws out the drunk is revealed. Alex and his droogs come into the scene as shadows and it is there footsteps that are heard, casual and yet ominous, just as Alex starts to tell the audience how he could not stand drunks and drunken singing. The echoing sound of the singing and the footsteps make once again for a surreal world, one that reflects the stark lighting that makes their shadows enormously long. Echoing, rather distorted voices continue on the soundtrack as Alex and the old man argue with one another and then the Droogs start to beat him up. Here Kubrick introduces the idea that violence can be seen and heard as a dance. Thus the rhymic beating of the various weapons against the man's body sound like perverted musical instruments to which their howls of joy at indulging in violence are an accompaniment. Just before the jump cut to the theatre scene the waltz music that accompanies this is introduced. This time it is a girl's screams that acts in unison with the music: violence and beautiful melodies again juxtaposed. It takes a full ten seconds for Kubrick to actually reveal in a visual manner what is happening in the scene: essentially this is secondary to the two sounds put against one another. The fact that the attempted rape of the girl is shot in a distancing long-shot adds to the importance of the sound. The sound
